After the Baltic ice lake stage, three local lakes, the Southern Saimaa, Sääminki and North Karelia ice lakes combined to form the Saimaa ice lake via Lohikoski. Water flowed over a wide area along several routes, and a delta at the Southern Saimaa ice lake level accumulated as the rapid formed. Nowadays there is a church and graveyard on the delta.
